
The Vitruvian Man = the Fibonacci Sequence = The Golden Ration

This brief is all about numbers, and what better ratio of numbers to talk about than the golden ratio ones. These numbers are:

Vitruvius also realized that “arm span and height have a nearly perfect correspondence in the human body, thus placing the body perfectly inside a square as well.” Both he and Leonardo saw real implications in this alignment between anatomy and geography, beginning with the notion that buildings and other works of man should also take on these “perfect” proportions. All of this ties in with the problem, first proposed by ancient geometers, of “squaring the circle,” that is, finding a procedure to hand-draw a square and a circle both of equal area. Leonardo used Vitruvian Man to point toward one possible solution using the human body.”

The ‘golden ratio’ is everywhere, it’s in space, earth, nature and humans. If i was to go down this route for Event 3 I think it would get very philosophical but there is so much to write about and I think it could make for an interesting website.
Hmm, I think that the golden ratio has been so many times before – I am almost tempted to say, no not again… BUT WAIT, what if you came up with something completely different for your golden ratio idea? What if you eliminated the ratio completely, what would it be then? How would this new ratio work – perhaps “Death to the ratio = an end to structure, perfect form etc” Like an anti ratio number campaign/protest project – could be fun no?
