Its Done! I fixed it! and by fixed it I mean I found a different tutorial and it finally worked!!
I found a really nice overlay menu and tried to implement it into my code and it actually worked! I was so happy when it actually opened, the only problem I had was that it was calling on the actions from my ‘back to top’ button so I had to change a couple of things and and make new ids but eventually I got it to work properly, then I had to change the design and colours because they were shocking.
I also had issues with adding in more sections ( I need 6 titles and the tutorial and had 4) but I eventually found what I needed to change. I made a couple of adjustments overall – I changed the colour, the font, font spacing, the line height, the hover feature, and a couple of transitions and their timing. Once I was happy with everything I googled the glyph characters cause I remembered Werner telling us about how you cant just add in a random greek letter of glyph cause it wont understand it. So I went through CSS tricks and added in the letters I liked so that it was more fitting to my theme but still legible at the same time. Unfortunately I didnt have the same freedom to create the names like I did in Illustrator but I think they are pretty similar.
