Here are a couple of games I’ve been looking at and exploring as inspiration. I’m trying to better understand what is doable and what isn’t as well as find a good narrative that will work with the 2D platform game.
This was definitely my favourite game growing up. Me and my brother would always play this on the Wii. It brings back so many memories just watching this video. I couldn’t not include it. It’s probably the best example I can think of when you say 2D platform game.
I remember seeing this one in first year for our first game development. I remember it being a tuely amazing game with lots of information, sprites and videos about it.
I really like the different areas/ plant things they go too. Plus the illustrations and design is so well done
I enjoyed these characters, the detail in them and the randomness of them – 2 mushrooms and an onion? I thought they’re really cute. Plus the scenes are really well designed.
I dont like the characters or story behind this but I do like the environments the character goes through
This one is so amazing! I really love it. We saw it in our brief and its so good. I really like the characters as well as the environments. They all work really well and I thought hte contrast between the character and the enemy is really well done. I also like the way you cant see the whole world. You can only see parts and it appears as you run.
The way these environments appear and change is actually wild. I think its so creative and different to all the other platform games.
I love this game design. I really like the simplicity of colours and the characters. I think the environments are very cool and well thought out, especially the furtherest background with the gradient.
I thought the style of this game is really well thought out and cool. I really like the colour scheme as well as the theme of the app. the bubbles, symbols and masks really caught my eye. These are my notes of me breaking down the brief.
