So my initial idea was to create this weird but wonderful game where you are a drunk guy, going through the town and trying to stay drunk. He was going to be chased and attacked by police and his parents / adults. I thought it would be cool and enjoyable. I could make him stumble around and almost hard to control at times and then he keeps drinking to up his confidence and get better at what he does. The bad things were time (well clocks), water and bread, all things that sober you up.
I got to a stage where I was drawing up what I’d image the world to look like – I wanted something similar to Mario with the floating islands and stuff like that. I got stuck though cause I wasnt sure what these floating islands would be. I didnt want to make it something stupid and non related. But this lead me onto my next idea… LSD.
I know what you think… wtf and I on about. But basically, instead. of having a drunk main character, you have one who’s tripping balls. I would have a super bright and colourful world, bright, bold colours everywhere. Floating islands, weird and wonderful characters, trippy imagery and collage backgrounds etc. I’d be able to experiment and have fun creating weird, colourful, strange backgrounds. I want to have a similar concept to before (needing to sustain the trip/hallucination) and even having things that make the trip (hallucination) bad – so if a character shot you the sky started going black and scary and eventually killing your character. In order to change scenes (like when Mario goes down his pipe) my character could dose up and fade into a new area / scene.
