I’ve been Busy.
I fixed James’ jump cycle and added it into my Mario game to see how it would look and realised I need to make his arm swing faster. It was really nice to see him in game though, he’s really getting there.
I then worked on his Idle state. I made him lean back and forth and his arms move slightly, his hard move and the colours in his glasses mover around. I referenced the Boy character from our past exercises to see how he should Idle. I also made a second Idle screen for when James is left for a while, he takes a sip of his drink. Once I was happy with this I shrunk him down to the size of Mario (64 x 116px) and a png sequence then added him in game. I had to watch a tutorial on how to delay his actions (for the drink cycle) but it was super simple and straight forward once they showed me how to do it. I put a 5 second delay on the animation and it works perfectly. James stands still and rocks back and forth slight ( viewing him in game though made me realise his actions need to be more pronounced because it was hard to notice when he is so small), but the drink cycle works perfectly, I juist need to make his eyes move more. I’m begining to get super excited about whats happening.
At the end of my screen recording I’ve slowed it down into real time and you can see me play around in my Mario world with James. You can see him jump, run and idle.
(I HAVE NO IDEA WHY ITS DONE THAT WITH HIS EYE – IT DOESN’T LOOK LIKE THAT, I THINK ITS JUST A POOR QUALITY GIF)
