Monday Critique

Todays lecture were critiqued and reviewed everyones work. The first 7 photos are from Saturday and sunday where I was attempting to colour grade my footage. I was fairly happy with what I managed to achieve but knew it still needed some refining. It took a lot longer than I thought it would to colour grade but near the end I was doing it pretty efficiently and well. Initially I had to spend a lot of time cutting my film up so That I could colour grade the individual scenes.

This first photo are the notes from todays lecture. I’m pretty happy with what the class had to say as there were no major issues with my film, Just a few tweaks and changes (a lot I already knew were coming ). Ive begun changing some of the scenes already.

One of the things I was upset about was the need to have the film title at the beginning though 😦 I thought my title reveal fitted really nicely right at the end. But none the less, Ive changed it to the beginning of the film and altered the timing of the beginning. I also removed the old tv effects that were on there – I was always unsure about if I should have them or not so I was pretty happy with the feedback about them, even though it was to remove it. One thing I thought was a really good idea, one that I hadn’t thought of but makes so much sense, is add the news the logo at the bottom. I added it to the bottom right of the presidential speeches, I also fiddled with with (animated) the image so that the dot next to ‘live’ flashes, making it look even more realistic.

I also sorted out the netflix, Wessie mentioned how I didn’t have the ‘Netflorist’ scene. Originally I had scamped it in, but then after filming. I cut the scene out because there wasn’t enough time to watch Netflix multiple times. I ended up just changing the first neflix logo to netflorist because its the evening before all the weird stuff begins to happen. It took me some time to get the timing right as well as to get the mask around Ryans head correct, but its looking good now.

The main thing now is the Colour Grading. Ive always said that the colour grading will make or break a movie which is why I wanted to spend a lot of time on it. But i just ended up running out of time, so i did what I could. Im going to spend as much time as I can perfecting the colour grading tomorrow since I managed to do the majority of the fine tweeting this evening. Hopefully VS and BL arent too demanding tomorrow so I can spend more time on my film.
